Salmon

Photo of a crocheted salmon plush against a white background. The salmon has a head and fins in dark green and a red body so it resembles a sockeye salmon.

Here’s a fun little project to do in between more complicated ones. I used a 2.5mm hook so the fish turned out to be a bit smaller, but also a perfect size as a cat toy. The choice of stitches in the middle is very pretty too, just a mix of single crochets and half-double crochets overlapping each other and you’ll get somewhat of a star shaped pattern across the body.

I love salmon and how weird they can look. The one I made is a bit more simplified and cartoonish so it could really be any type of fish, but I think it would be very cool if in the future there’s a pattern that can emulate the shape of its hooked jaw, or even its unruly little teeth which I absolutely adore.

Other than that, not much to say other than I wish I have a cat to gift this to!! There’s a goldfish pattern I’d love to try out next, it’ll be so funny to accumulate a whole school of these nonchalant-looking little guys in my room.
